MASTERPIECE

Ephesians 2:10

"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago."

Masterpiece - a work of outstanding artistry, skill, or workmanship; an artist or craftsman's best piece of work.

You don't refer to just anything as a masterpiece. As this definition says, someones best piece of work, outstanding artistry, sill and workamnship go into creating a masterpiece. It is not something that is thrown together on a whim but very carefully thought out. The smallest details are planned from the very beginning and nothing is left without. A masterpiece is without error or fault. A masterpiece is not lacking in anything. It is not created by a rookie but by a veteran giving his utmost attention and thought to. A masterpiece is bought with a high price.

We, you and I, we are God's masterpiece. Think for a moment about the most beautiful place that you have ever seen. Maybe you were at the peak of a mountain overlooking the earth below you, maybe standing on a white sandy beach looking out into the vast ocean wondering how there could possibly be an end to it, walking through a valley or simply looking into a starry nights sky. How beautiful is the world around us that God has created. These are the visions that for some of us take our very breath away. Not once, ever does God refer to these creations as his masterpiece. No. You and I, were carefully knit together, thought out, planned, made without a single flaw, not lacking in anything.

What a high price someone will pay for a masterpiece. Yet so many times will we sell ourselves short. Our tainted view of ourselves only discredits the workmanship of our master, our creator. How dare we think of ourselves as anything less than that. Just as a child is a direct reflection of his or her parent so is a masterpiece a direct reflection of its creator. What do your life, your character, your words, actions, thoughts, decisions, relationships, dreams reveal about your master?
